Snore Guard® Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Snore Guard® work?
Snore Guard works by holding your jaw slightly forward while you sleep. This is called mandibular repositioning and effectively keeps your airway open so the soft tissue at the back of your throat doesn’t vibrate and cause snoring.
How long has it been around?
Snore Guard has been used in the US through dental offices and physicians since 1989.
Yes. Snore Guard has been used since 1989. It is completely safe. Some people ask if they could accidentally swallow the device while they sleep. As small and sleek as it is, the Snore Guard is still too large to accidentally swallow it.
How do I care for my Snore Guard®?
Care is simple. Rinse the Snore Guard with warm water after every use. Dry thoroughly and keep in storage container when not in use. Periodically clean the device with toothbrush and toothpaste as necessary. Rinse thoroughly and dry before storing.
Will I breathe normally through my mouth when using my Snore Guard?
Yes. The patented Air Flow Technology allows you to breathe comfortably through your mouth while sleeping.
Do I need a prescription?
No prescription is necessary for purchase and delivery in Canada.
Will I feel any discomfort wearing Snore Guard?
We recommend that you wear Snore Guard for 1-2 hours during the day for 2 days to become accustomed to the device before wearing it overnight. During the adjustment period (the first 1-2 weeks), some people have minor teeth, jaw or gum discomfort. This would be comparable to wearing braces for the first time. This discomfort is perfectly normal and will diminish as you become accustomed to the device. Snore Guard should not be used if it causes sharp, severe or prolonged pain to the teeth, jaw or gums.
Is it difficult to fit the Snore Guard device?
It is quick and simple to perfectly fit your Snore Guard. Warm the device with boiling water and shape it to your mouth. Detailed instructions and pictures are included with every Snore Guard to answer any questions you will have as you fit the device.
How long will my Snore Guard last?
For best results, it is recommended that you replace your Snore Guard® every 3-6 months.
Does Snore Guard treat obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)?
Snore Guard® is clinically proven to reduce snoring and treat symptoms of mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. Snore Guard® should not be used if you have severe obstructive or central sleep apnea. Snoring can be a symptom of sleep apnea - consult your doctor to treat sleep apnea.
Can I wear Dentures with the Snore Guard®?
